The body, along with its physical and biological features of individuals, as a site through which socialization appears, is being turned into a practical space in where social power relations would appear as well. The presentation of the body and the meanings attributed to the body cannot be considered apart from social structure and power relations. Fat bodies, in that context, those have a significant market value within consumer culture are going beyond simply the expression of a physical condition and it is also under the influence of social, political and economic codes. Announcement of fatness as an illness in medical practice leads that it is being seen as physical defects and also as an illness needs to be cured. It brings about that fat bodies are subjected to othering and stigmatization in both medical and social practice. This study tries to interrelate between fatness and social exclusion with reference to Goffman’s definition of stigma. Goffman (1963) considers stigma as a critical factor in social interactions and suggests that it is determinative upon the attitudes and behaviors of individuals in the moments of interaction among individuals. Declaring stigmatized “fat” individual as an ill causes to positioning of that person into a different status group. Thus, predefined and stigmatized individual is being turned into a customer, by means of assurance of “curing” and “normalization”, of centers and specialists who work in that field, in short of market. In that study, the relationship between stigmatization and obesity will be scrutinized. In doing so, this study is based on analyzing of relevant texts of a daily mainstream newspaper.

Everyday life studies have always been ignored in social sciences until 1960’s. Science has
always focused on generalized majorities and statistics, for example, paid all attention to
biggest numbers and most observed frequencies. Therefore, what have been analyzed in social
sciences, were usually stories of majorities, big events and mostly significant people. This
study based upon everyday life sociology and intends to bring ordinary peoples’ voices
foreground. In that manner, French scholar Michel de Certeau establishes the main framework
of that paper. For Certeau, people who are not creators of hegemonic power structures are in
silent resistance in their everyday lives, with their everyday life practices. This paper, analyzes
everyday life practices of German Turks, as a case study. Fieldwork study of this research was
based on qualitative techniques and it was carried in Aachen, a city at Nord Rheine
Westphalia (NRW) region of Germany. During five weeks period in 2012, 35 people have
participated in depth interviews. Data gathered from these interviews have been analyzed and
different aspects and examples of resistance in routine everyday life have been presented.
These patterns of everyday life practices vary from speaking to shopping and finally eating
practices. Different ways of doing things and different ways of consumption and many
creative everyday life practices display how ordinary and “otherized” people survive with
their different life styles.

This paper intends to analyse and discuss reflections of patriarchy, male-dominance and micro-resistance that ordinary women create in their everyday life against social rules and expectations that constrain their freedom in everyday life. Within that regard, an Oscar nominee and 2015 internationally co-produced drama film directed by Turkish-French film director, " Mustang " , will be narratively analysed by focusing on everyday life practices of five characters in the film. These five characters are orphaned sisters living in a Turkish village and their lives dramatically change after a day at which sisters play with their school mate boys. Depending upon Turkish social rules and traditions girls are expected to keep their sexuality away from stranger males, thus girls in the film are kept from leaving the house, even for school. Beginning from that time, girls' house become a space of domination and control and girls start to establish their micro-resistance acts against their uncle and grandmother's hegemonic rules and prohibitions. These micro-resistance acts will be analysed through Michel de Certeau's concepts of everyday life " strategies " and " tactics ". Thus, girls' mundane acts such as watching football match or wearing short skirts at home against prohibitions of their uncle, can be considered as brave and intelligent tactics that intend to erode hegemony of their uncle over their everyday life and their bodies. Therefore, unseen resistance is created in everyday life and girls start to create their tactics to find room for expressing themselves and getting independence.

Kültür kavramını tanımlamak ya da belirli bir kalıp içerisinde işlevselleştirmek birden çok kültür tanımı ve yaklaşımının varlığından dolayı son derece zor bir deneme olacaktır. Kuvvetle muhtemel yapılacak olan her kültür tanımı da, bir veya daha çok paradigmanın veya disiplinin çatısı altında ele alınması sonucu, farklı disiplinler ve yaklaşımlar tarafından eleştirilecektir. Bu nedenle, bu çalışmada kültür tanımının katı ve değişmez olarak ele alınmasının mümkünlüğünü sorgulamayan ancak, temel olarak gündelik hayat sosyolojisi tarafından bütüncül yaklaşımların, tekli açıklama biçimlerinin ve meta anlatıların egemenliğinden arınmayı amaçlayan bir tutum çerçevesinde, gündelik hayatın tek tipleştirici kültürü alt üst edici yönü tartışılacaktır. Bu bağlamda bir kültür kavramının üst çatı olarak kurgulanmasından ziyade, hangi kültür kavramlarının sosyal bilimlerde hangi bağlamlarda ele alındığını kısaca hatırlamak gerekli görülebilir. Yukarıda değinilen haliyle, kültür kavramının farklı tanımlamalarını tarayan Alfred Kroeber ve Clyde Kluckhohn, 1963 yılında " kültür " ün tam 164 adet tanımının yapıldığını tespit etmişlerdir (Kroeber ve Kluckhohn'dan akt. Inglis, 2005:5). Bu sayının post modern yaklaşımlar ve yeni çağdaş sosyal teoriler düşünüldüğünde 164'ün üzerinde olduğunu öne sürmek yanlış olmayacaktır. Kültürü kapitalizm eleştirisi olarak kitle kültürü ve popüler kültürle ilişkili olarak ele alan Adorno ve Horkheimer, kültürü, eğlence ve boş zamanın analizinde ortaya koyarlarken, eğlence ve boş zamanın, işten bağımsız özgür alanlar ve dinlenme yolları olarak görünmelerine rağmen işyeri dışında iş yaşamının rutinleşmiş örüntüsünü koruyarak kapitalist sürece etkili bir şekilde hizmet ettiklerini tartışırlar (Bennett, 2013: 29). Ayrıca, popüler olanın gerek müzik gerek film endüstrisi içerisinde olsun belirli talimatlar ve kurallar düşünülerek ve istenilen türde belirli bir tepki alınması amacıyla üretildiği düşünüldüğünde, kapitalizmin içerisinde sanat kavramının popüler olana kurban edildiği ortaya çıkmaktadır. Habermas'ın ise gündelik hayat yerine kullandığı " yaşam dünyaları " , temelde medya dolayımlı süreçler yoluyla şekillenmektedir ve medya dolayımından geçmiş enformasyon, gündelik bilginin kaynağı haline gelmektedir (Bennett, 2013:35).

Avrupa'ya Türkiyeli işçi göçü 1960'lı yıllardan itibaren önemli bir toplumsal olgu olarak hem Türkiye hem de Avrupa toplumunda önemli toplumsal değişimlerin nedeni olmuştur. " Bir gün dönmek " amaçlı çıkılan göç yolculuğunda, bir türlü dönülmeyen Türkiye, birinci kuşaklar için " vatan " olarak önemini korumaya devam etmektedir. Ancak, özellikle ikinci ve üçüncü kuşaklar için Türkiye'ye ilişkin düşünceler değişmeye başlamıştır. Dolayısıyla, Avrupa'da yerleşik olan ve artık kendilerini " Euro-Türkler " olarak tanımlayan Türkiye kökenliler için yaklaşık 50 yıldır Türkiye toplumunda egemen olan " Gurbetçi " ve " Almancı " kavramlarının gözden geçirilmesi önem taşımaktadır. Bu iki kavramın taşıdığı " vatan " , " gurbet " ve aşırı tüketime bağlı gösterişli yaşam ve pejoratif yaklaşımlar, özellikle üçüncü kuşaklar için geçerli durumlar değildir. Almanya'nın Duisburg ve Aachen kentlerinde gerçekleştirilen derinlemesine mülakatlarla desteklenen bu çalışma, bu eksende Almanya özelinde değişen " Avrupa'da yaşayan Türkiyeli olma durumunu " tartışmakta ve bu nüfusun " Euro-Türkler " olarak tanımlanma talebinin altını çizmektedir. Ayrıca, çalışma, Euro-Türkler olarak yeninden dikkate alınması gereken " ait olma " biçimlerinin bütünleşmenin de en önemli anahtarlarından biri olduğunu vurgulamaktadır. ABSTRACT Turkish Labour Migration to Europe has been a significant reason for both Turkish and European Societies beginning from 1960's. Turkey, is still significant as " a homeland " for first generation migrants who have stared their journey of migration with the belief of " returning back one day ". However, especially for second and third generations, attitudes towards Turkey, have started to change. Therefore, it seems crucial for those who define themselves as " Euro-Turk, to rethink concepts " Gurbetci " and " Almancı " , that have been dominant for more than 50 years. Attitudes these two concepts include like " homeland " , " gurbet " , over consumption and other pejorative statements in Turkish society towards people living in Germany, are not considered as valid for third generation living in Germany. This study, enhanced with depth interviews carried in Duisburg and Aachen in Germany, discusses the changing condition of " being the Turk living in Europe " and highlights the demand of the third generation of Turks in Germany to be identified as " Euro-Turks. In addition, this study emphasizes, the necessity to reconsider " the forms of belonging " , as one of the most significant key concepts of the integration.

Michel de Certeau, Gündelik Hayat Sosyolojisinde, sıradan bireyin mücadele eden, kurnazlık yapan, küçük hilelerle egemen yapılara karşı küçük zaferler kazanan zeki ve yaratıcı yönünü ön plana çıkartmaktadır. Dolayısıyla Certeau, sıradan bireyin gündelik hayatında görünmeyen küçük zaferlerini fark edebilmenin ipuçlarını vermektedir. Certeau’nun Taktikleri, Alışverişte, okurken, konuşurken ve hatta yürürken bile sıradan bireye "Stratejilerin” inşa ettiği kurallara "Taktikler” geliştirerek karşı gelebilmenin zekice ve kimi zaman da eğlenceli yanını görebilmeyi vadetmektedir.

Bu çalışma, hem teorik bir Gündelik Hayat Sosyolojisi incelemesi hem de Certeau’dan hareketle sıradan bireyin yaratıcı taktiklerini uygulamalı bir biçimde Almanya’daki Türkiyeliler üzerinde inceleme imkânı sunmaktadır. Almanya’daki Türkiyelilerin gündelik hayatlarında "görünmeyen hileleri” ve gündelik hayatlarında "kendi olabilmelerinin ve kalabilmelerinin yollarını sağlayan” Taktikleri, Gündelik Hayat Sosyolojisine, sıradan bireyin küçük zaferleriyle bakabilmenin kapılarını aralamaktadır.

As a result of increasing urbanization in Turkey as of 1950s, the multi-identity/cultural structure has been carried to the cities. During this urbanization process, in line with the emerging need of the new comers for housing, the selection of new residential spaces has been mostly shaped by socio-economic conditions and class differences rather than identity, culture and religion have been influential on the formation of these residential spaces. Throughout the process, increasing political conflicts, deteriorating socio-economic indicators and increasing poverty led to changing dimensions of texture of the residential spaces and tendency towards spatial homogeneity based on identity, culture, religion etc. accelerated. Without doubt, this has been greatly affected by globalization, and neo-liberal economic policies.

In the present study, as a result of the mission adopted by urban spaces during capital accumulation process in recent years, dynamics of segregation observed in this new texture are discussed based on the survey data obtained from the sampling consisting of Mersin, Diyarbakır and İzmir cities. The most important factor for the selection of these three cities as the sampling is the fact that these three metropolises have been subject to great immigration movements, political conflicts and moreover, they are the cities where segregated textures are frequently observed.
